Meet Deb

Hi.

I’m Deb.

I don’t quite know where to start, so here goes …

I love Bikram yoga, but hate to sweat. I adore the winter months but can’t stand
snow, and I find great pleasure listening to classical music despite a penchant for snoozing through philharmonic concerts.

I moved to New York City in 2010 to study journalism, and I loved the city so much that I decided to stay put. Although I enjoy being a journalist, baking has always been a passion of mine. I received my first cookbook from a dear classmate on my seventh birthday, and when I was eight, my parents enrolled me and my older sister, Francisca, in a summer bread making course. Since then, I have turned to baking to answer any – and all – of my problems. Maybe you should, too.

Feeling stressed? Bake something.

Want that dapper fellow to fall madly in love with you? Bake him something.

Does the house stink? Bake something.

And on it goes.

After years of haphazardly scribbling recipes on wayward scraps of paper – and subsequently losing them into the ether – I realized I needed a place where I could permanently document, and share, my culinary adventures. Thus, this blog was born.

When I’m not busy editing news at 30 Rock or experimenting in my kitchen, I can usually be found running half marathons, flashpacking across the world, or attending Welsh Terrier meet-up groups … although I don’t actually own a Welsh Terrier.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

I hope you’ll visit often.
